First Kalamazoo Brew

So yeah, I'm in Kalamazoo now, working as a Ph.D. chemist.  What's better?  My company has a line of "advanced hop products," these may appear in this blog from time to time.

A lot of my crappier equipment was left in Lafayette and replaced with better stuff (now that I don't make a slave's wage).  I'm still doing partial mash out of my home-built 3-gal mash tun, but I have better measurement tools (my old thermometer is now a pretzel in the trashcan) and am moving away from the pig/bottle setup, closer to corny kegs.

I finally got everything out of the basement storage area and brewed this past saturday.  The beer was a Simcoe IPA, with CTZ hops for bitter and whole leaf Simcoe for flavor and aroma.  Current plan is no dry-hop.

O.G. was right at 1.064, should hopefully be 6.8+%.

The breweries around here are awesome, should keep me motivated to keep brewing.

Cheers
